Issue One

Hello, and welcome to White Lemonade.

Why White Lemonade? Well….there’s a few.

Firstly, in these parts fizzy drinks are known as pop, and after all, pop is what this ‘zine’s about. Secondly, the elders of this valley tend to call lemonade, white lemonade. And thirdly, Porth was the first town in the UK to produce any form of fizzy drink. In fact, the company called Corona started life here. Corona coming from the Welsh word, “coron”, meaning crown – the company logo. That’s the history lesson over with.

Next; we want to hear from bands out there. The only qualification is good music, the language you sing in doesn’t matter; the part of the globe you come from doesn’t matter; if you are good you’re in.

I’m always on the look out for contributions so if you’ve got a review, feature, whatever, send it in.

I’ve also got a fetish for organising gigs, so if your band want to play in south Wales the address is below.

That’s all for now.

Nadolig Llawen / Merry Christmas,

Darren
